The FIELD
Tournament Host Tiger Woods will make his 2024 PGA TOUR debut at The Genesis Invitational, held February 15-18 at The Riviera Country Club. Woods headlines the field set to compete in the 98th playing of the event. One of eight Signature Events on the PGA TOUR schedule, 71 players will compete for a $20 million purse, with this year’s champion slated to collect a $4 million prize and 700 PGA TOUR FedExCup points. The Genesis Invitational will feature a 36-hole cut for the top 50 plus ties and any player within 10 shots of the lead.
Woods is joined by 22 of the top 24 golfers in the Official World Golf Ranking – the first occurrence for a 2024 PGA TOUR event. Annually among the strongest fields in golf, playing commitments include:
- Tiger Woods (Tournament Host, 82-time PGA TOUR winner, 15-time major champion)
- Scottie Scheffler (World No. 1, 2022 Masters champion, six-time PGA TOUR winner and two-time reigning PGA TOUR Player of the Year)
- Rory McIlroy (World No. 2, 24-time PGA TOUR winner, four-time major champion and 2022 PGA TOUR FedExCup champion)
- Viktor Hovland (World No. 4, six-time PGA TOUR champion and 2023 PGA TOUR FedExCup champion)
- Xander Schauffele (World No. 5, seven-time PGA TOUR champion, San Diego, Calif. native and reigning Olympic Gold Medalist from the Tokyo Games)
- Wyndham Clark (World No. 6 and 2023 U.S. Open champion in Los Angeles)
- Patrick Cantlay (World No. 7, eight-time PGA TOUR winner, UCLA product and Long Beach, Calif. native)
- Max Homa (World No. 8, 2021 tournament champion and Valencia, Calif. native)
- Matt Fitzpatrick (World No. 9, 2022 U.S. Open winner)
- Brian Harman (World No. 10 and 2023 Open Championship winner)
The field features 15 past major champions including six-time PGA TOUR winner (including 2020 PGA Championship and 2021 Open Championship) and Los Angeles native Collin Morikawa (World No. 13), three-time major winner and 13-time PGA TOUR champion Jordan Spieth (World No. 16), 13-time PGA TOUR champion and 2015 PGA Championship winner Jason Day (World No. 18) and 2017 and 2022 PGA Championship winner and 15-time PGA TOUR champion Justin Thomas (World No. 19), among others. Past winners at Riviera in the field include Homa and Adam Scott (2020 & 2005 event champion).
Overall, The Genesis Invitational will showcase 41 of the top 50 players in the world and 28 of the top 30 players from the 2022-23 FedExCup standings.
